Top Spots to Shoot in Milan

Milan backdrops and shoot locations that Instagrammers and photographers will love.

City Girl Cooks Photographer and Photo Editor Riccardo Perdisa (Instagram @foxyperdi) scouted the City of Milan for unique locations with backdrops often searched by photographers, stylists, producers, and Instagram hustlers. When Piazza Duomo and the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele have lost their shine or when a specific look needs to be shot, here are some locations to shoot in Milan that are sure to hit the spot.

Whether it's with a camera phone or a professional camera, the architectural elements, bold colors, accents, patterns, light, and even the vibe of the environment effects everything in a shot. A gorgeous suit can disappear or pop out of the scene depending on the background, location, and time you've chosen to shoot.

Milan is known for stunning background imagery but also for it's rich architectural design that spans centuries. Details make a difference and in this city there is an abundance. Looking for stripes? Glass? Dark or light backdrops? Need an Urban feel but something futuristic? We've got you covered.

Here are Riccardo's top spots to shoot in Milan with photo reference and essential aesthetic information about the location.

Gallery and descriptions of top photo locations in Milan.

FONDAZIONE ARMANI

Fondazione Armani is one of my favorite places to shoot. A mixed minimal/eco urban style. Being a single straight street, the effect of depth can be created in a simple and clean way. Not to mention, what's better than the iconic Giorgio Armani writing to immortalize your days in Milan? The predominant colors are black white\light grey, green.

BRERA

Brera is one of the oldest areas of Milan, consequently you can find typical alleys, while still getting the feel of a modern bohemian atmosphere. A mecca for some of the most beautiful doors in Milan, the nineteenth-century architecture makes it a perfect place for photography. I recommend the morning or after 6pm as the light is not direct. Predominant colors dirty grey, brown\orange, white.

CITYLIFE

CityLife is one of the most modern neighborhoods in the city. that is, an ultramodern and minimal urban oasis with islands of greenery. Suitable for any type of photo, whether to show off an outfit or for an advertising campaign. In the middle of the park you can find a small concrete building with red Plexiglas to create a unique effect. A huge plus: some buildings were designed by Zaha Hadid, it would be worth going there just for that reason alone. Dominance of white black green colors.

FONDAZIONE GUCCI

Via Mecenate 79 Milan, Gucci Foundation, is the perfect place if you want a minimal and at the same time urban location, black, perforated, metal walls act as walls to the structure where Gucci creates new collections. A little further on you will also find a brick wall with a black gate in front with pink details. Just stay around and you will immediately be inspired by the energy of that place. Towards the golden hour you can make some spectacular backlighting.

DESCRIZIONI IN ITALIANO

ARMANI
